BANGOR, Maine — A Frenchville woman who suffered significant injuries Thursday afternoon when her vehicle was struck head-on by another motorist was listed in fair condition Sunday at Eastern Maine Medical Center.

Brenda Boucher, 48, was southbound in a 2000 Chevrolet Cavalier at 1:30 p.m. Thursday on Cleveland Road when David Fernald, 25, of Frenchville was northbound in his 1986 Volvo sedan. Fernald was driving in the wrong lane when he drove head-on into Boucher, according to Maine State Police Sgt. Brian Harris.

Fernald suffered cuts to his head and face and was taken to Northern Maine Medical Center in Fort Kent. Boucher was trapped in her vehicle, and the Frenchville Fire Department had to use extrication equipment to free her.

She was stabilized, taken to The Aroostook Medical Center in Presque Isle and later was transferred to EMMC in Bangor.

Information about why Fernald was in the wrong lane was not available Sunday afternoon.

Both vehicles were demolished in the crash, Harris said last week.
