WAITSFIELD, Vt. — The 6th annual Northern Forest Canoe Trail (NFCT) Online Auction ended recently with a record $35,421 raised for programs along the four-state waterway.
More than 450 people placed 2,600 bids on 549 auction items during the month-long event to help NFCT reach its auction revenue goal of $35,000. One hundred and twenty businesses, organizations, and individuals donated a range of outdoor gear, clothing, vacations, books, boats, and paddles to the auction.
“We had an incredible variety of auction goods this year, and record-breaking activity by repeat and new bidders. We are grateful to all who participate to make this a successful event,” said NFCTExecutive Director Kate Williams.
Top bidding items included a Nova Craft canoe, Legacy Paddlesports kayak, Delorme and SPOT satellite GPS units, personalized Foxworx canoe paddle, Surftech standup paddleboard, canoe and kayak paddles by Mitchell Paddles, and GoLite wheeled carry-on.
All auction proceeds go directly to NFCT’s programs, which include trail development and waterway stewardship, sustainable tourism development, recreation and heritage, and a youth paddling program.
