Five Orland residents vie for selectman seat

Updated:

ORLAND, Maine — Five residents filed nomination papers by Monday’s deadline to fill the vacant seat on the town’s board of selectmen.

Matthew Brown, Alan Bussey, Jason Dorr, Dexter Johnson and Lester Stackpole are seeking the position left vacant by the death of longtime Selectman Wayne Ames. Ames died on Thanksgiving after serving 40 years as selectman.

The election is set for Jan. 4 with the winner to take office immediately and finish Ames’ term on the board, which runs until 2013.
