Cabin Fever Theater to hold Jan. 4 meeting


DEER ISLE, Maine — Cabin Fever Theater announces a general information, singalong and sign-up meeting at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 4, 2011, at the Reach Auditorium in Deer Isle for this winter’s production of “Kiss Me Kate.” Auditions for principal roles will take place at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday and Thursday, Jan. 5 and 6. Morgan Witham will direct this year’s show, with Nelson Monteith as musical director. Rehearsals will run throughout the winter, with performances on March 18, 19 and 20.

A musical version of Shakespeare’s “The Taming of the Shrew,” the play-within-a-play features four main characters, Fred, Lilli, Lois and Bill, who play the parts of Petruchio, Katharine, Bianca and Lucentio. Gambling, thugs, gangsters and complicated love interests are woven throughout the musical comedy. Musical numbers include “Another Op’nin’ Another Show,” “Why Can’t You Behave,” “Wunderbar,” “So In Love,” “Kiss Me Kate,” “Too Darn Hot” and “Brush Up Your Shakespeare.”
