BIDDEFORD, Maine — Police say a Biddeford woman has been arrested on arson charges after admitting setting a fire that destroyed an apartment building last year.

Forty-three-year-old Edna Godin was charged with two counts of arson on Monday.

Police said they received a report of a fire at 358 Main St. on Thursday where several pieces of asbestos siding on an apartment building had been burning but went out before igniting the building.

Police interviewed potential witnesses to the fire, including Godin, a resident, who admitted starting that fire as well as one at 8 Kossuth St. on May, 19, 2009, that destroyed the building, displacing several residents.
