Police Academy graduates already on duty

VASSALBORO — Maine’s newest police officers graduated Friday morning from the Maine Criminal Justice Academy.

The 44 men and women completed 18 weeks of study and training at the academy, including such topics as criminal and traffic law, domestic violence, firearms, first aid, crime scene processing, sexual assault and emergency vehicle operation.

Many of the graduates are already on the job patrolling their beats, according Steve McCausland, spokesman for the Maine Department of Public Safety.
