PARIS, Maine — Police in Maine have charged a woman in the shooting deaths of her estranged husband and another man inside a Rumford home they shared.
The Sun-Journal of Lewiston reports that 24-year-old Gayla Sheldon of Rumford was arrested Friday and charged with two counts of murder, conspiracy to commit murder, and other charges in the killings of 48-year-old Roger Day and 22-year-old Victor Sheldon.
Twenty-one-year-old Richard Moulton Jr. and 20-year-old Eric Hamel have pleaded guilty in the August 2009 killings. Police say they planned the shootings as revenge because Victor Sheldon allegedly assaulted his estranged wife, who had started dating Moulton.
Gayla Sheldon is expected to appear in court next week for a bail hearing. It’s not immediately clear whether she has an attorney.
