Piscataquis County officials sign contract

By Diana Bowley, BDN Staff

DOVER-FOXCROFT, Maine — A contract was inked earlier this week between the Piscataquis County commissioners and the Piscataquis County Sheriff’s Administrative Association.

The one-year contract — which covers investigator and patrol Lt. Robert Young, dispatch supervisor Dave Roberts and jail administrator Dave Harmon — is similar to the previous contract but includes a 2 percent pay increase.

The commissioners plan to change the health insurance package for all county employees. That change, however, is pending while negotiations continue with the union representing other Sheriff’s Department employees.

Under the proposed new contract, employees would pay a higher deductible. The higher deductible would be offset by a proposed health savings account.
