Police chase ends after suspect crashes on Turnpike

PORTLAND, Maine — Police here say a suspect who tried to avoid being ticketed has been arrested after crashing on the Maine Turnpike.

Joshua Mains, 27, allegedly turned off his headlights and accelerated to 120 mph after being spotted by an officer going 91 mph in a 65 mph zone, according to the Maine State Police. Mains crashed into a guardrail near exit 46.

The Portland Press Herald reports Mains is being held on $360 bail in Cumberland County Jail on charges of eluding an officer, driving to endanger, criminal speed and driving with a suspended license.
