The Salvation Army Wants to Serve More Families

Donors were given &quotAngel Tree" wish slips by the Salvation Army to buy the specified items on family's assistance wish lists. Since November 1, the Salvation Army of Bangor has taken in hundreds of the donated holiday gifts for needy families. Capt. Clark and wife Capt. Evelyn Clark of the Salvation Army said that by Tuesday morning, 254 area families had signed up for assistance. With the hope of serving around 350 families this year (as the Salvation Army of Bangor did last year), they have extended the Christmas assistance application deadline to today (Wed., Dec. 8). If a family can not meet the Wednesday deadline, they can call the Salvation Army's main number (941-2990) in Bangor to make an appointment to submit an application.
