Police rule Augusta man’s death a homicide

The Associated Press

HALLOWELL, Maine — State police say a man whose body was found along a road on the outskirts of Hallowell was the victim of a homicide.

The body of 47-year-old Paul Allen of Augusta was found around noon Sunday near the Manchester town line. Maine game wardens had been searching for Allen since Saturday afternoon, when his pickup truck was found about a mile away.

The state medical examiner’s office declared Allen’s death a homicide after an autopsy Monday. No additional information on the autopsy results was released.

Investigators say Allen last was seen Thursday night at a toy auction in Chelsea. Police are asking for the public’s help in retracing Allen’s whereabouts from Thursday night to Friday.
