BELFAST, Maine — Police have arrested four Waldo County residents on drug trafficking charges after an investigation that involved three law enforcement agencies.

Three were arrested Tuesday, according to Sgt. Dale Brown of the Waldo County Sheriff’s Office, and one had been taken into custody earlier in November.

Michelle Cogswell, 28, of Belfast was charged with one count of unlawful trafficking in oxycodone, which is a Class B felony punishable by up to 10 years in prison and a fine of up to $20,000.

Katie Clark, 25, of Frankfort was charged with two counts of unlawful trafficking in Suboxone, also a Class B felony.

Phillip Golgano, 41, of Belfast was charged with one count of trafficking in hydrocodone, a Class B felony, and one count of misdemeanor trafficking in marijuana.

Earl Leathers, 24, of Northport was arrested and charged on Nov. 9 with one count of trafficking in oxycodone.

The Maine Drug Enforcement Agency and the Searsport Police Department also were involved in the sweep of the local drug-trafficking ring, according to the sheriff’s office.

The investigation focused primarily on the sale of marijuana and prescription medications, and officials expect more arrests to occur as a result.
