ELLSWORTH — Police are seeking the public’s help in solving a series of daytime burglaries in a remote area of the city.

According to Detective Dottie Small of the Ellsworth Police Department, there have been three residential burglaries in the past month on the Gary Moore Road, a rural road in the northern portion of the city. The most recent incident took place Monday night.

“Three in one month in an area where there is not much population is a little concerning,” Small said Monday.

All three burglaries took place in the daytime, and the victimized homes were located close to each other, according to Small. In only one incident was the home broken into, she said.

The thief or thieves have taken smaller items and left larger, more expensive items behind, an indication that the suspect may have been on foot.

Police are asking anyone who has seen anything or anyone suspicious in the area or has any information relating to the burglaries to call 667-2168. If they wish to remain anonymous, they can call 669-6614.
