Outlook: The Black Bears return to action for the first time since their 97-72 loss to Notre Dame a week ago. UMaine is expected to welcome back shooting guard Terrance Mitchell, who sat out the first four games after having surgery on a broken left index finger during preseason. Mitchell’s dribble-drive ability should complement the 3-point shooting of McLemore and the Bears’ inside game led by Barnies and McNally. The Bobcats, the defending Northeast Conference regular-season champion, begin a five-game homestand after already having faced America East members Hartford (a 68-64 win) and Vermont (a 79-75 loss). Quinnipiac beat Dartmouth 69-52 on Nov. 23. The Bears must emphasize rebounding against an opponent that is plus-9.6 in rebounding margin. Quinnipiac has three good 3-point threats, but has struggled (61 percent) from the foul line. UMaine was recently chosen by Sports Illustrated to earn a spot in the NCAA tournament.
