FRANKFORT, Maine — Maine State Police are investigating the theft of a snowmobile that apparently was stolen from the front yard of a North Searsport Road residence on Tuesday afternoon.

Trooper Corey Smith said the 1996 Polaris Ultra was taken after it was loaded onto a utility trailer between 1 and 3 p.m. The snowmobile had a “for sale” sign on it.

Smith asks motorists who traveled that road Tuesday afternoon and may have observed the theft to call state police in Augusta at 624-7076.

Smith said the snowmobile is black with purple, pink and red accents and the front of the machine is marked with the words “Indy SP.” The letter “P” is missing from the Polaris logo on the right side of the seat.
