AROOSTOOK COUNTY, Maine — Snow that coated Aroostook County roads Saturday contributed to several accidents.

In Caribou, one accident sent a mother and her son to Cary Medical Center in Caribou. Both were treated for their injuries and later released.

Caribou police Officer Doug Bell said a 1998 Ford Explorer operated by Ellen McKissick, 64, of Caribou slid off Fort Fairfield Road at 11:35 a.m. and rolled over twice, landing on its roof.

Both McKissick and her son Jeffrey McKissick, 38, of Caribou were taken by ambulance to Cary Medical Center. Caribou fire and ambulance, along with U.S. Border Patrol, assisted Bell at the scene.

Bell said he saw a vehicle go off the road as he was working at the McKissick crash scene. He said he looked into his rearview mirror and saw a pickup truck spin around twice on the highway before it landed in the ditch.

Police in several departments were busy Saturday responding to reports of vehicles off the road, but no other major injuries were reported.
