St. Albans to hold early holiday concert

ST. ALBANS, Maine — A Christmas concert almost a week before Thanksgiving might seem odd for some, but the town of St. Albans found out a year ago that it’s a great idea.

The historic St. Albans Town Hall was packed to near capacity and just about bursting with holiday spirit, said Town Manager Rhonda Stark.

“It was very well attended,” she said. “Everyone there wanted us to continue again this year.”

And so at 7 p.m. Friday, the hall will fill with merriment once again to welcome several musical acts — many of them performed by local talent. All proceeds will benefit the ongoing renovation of the town hall, which is proceeding slowly as the town raises enough money to pay for it.

Performers will include a quartet from the Grace Linn Bell Ringers of Hartland, the Nokomis High School Jazz Chorus, the Denbow Family Band, Lydia and Margo Reiss and a trio that consists of Ashlee Lawrence, Kelby Duplisea and Becca Boyce.

For sustenance, there will be a food table and whole turkey pies will be for sale to bring home. Admission is by donation.

The St. Albans Town Hall, which is gaining a reputation as a frequent venue for live music, is located at 7 Water St. For more information, call the town office at 938-4568.
