OLD TOWN, Maine — The city of Old Town will hold an open house late this afternoon for members of the public to see the changes that have been made to City Hall. The open house will take place from 4 to 6 p.m. at 265 Main St. There will be a ribbon-cutting ceremony at the new City Council Chambers in City Hall at 5 p.m.
The city of Old Town had been leasing the second floor of the former Bangor Savings Bank building on Main Street since November 2004, with the bank occupying the first floor and owning the building. The city purchased the building in September 2009. Renovations to the building, allowing for City hall to expand to the first floor, began in March of this year. The expansion provides more space and expanded services for Old Town residents, as well as a location for the City Council Chambers, which had previously been located at the Old Town Public Library.
