ORONO, Maine — Officials from Riverside RSU 26 will conduct a public hearing at 7 p.m. Thursday regarding plans to borrow up to $645,000 for renovations and improvements to several schools.
During the hearing, which will take place in the council chambers at the Orono municipal building, residents of the three member towns will have an opportunity to learn more about the projects and provide comment.
A decision on funding the projects will be made on Wednesday, Dec. 15, during referendum votes in Orono, Glenburn and Veazie.
According to a public notice issued by Riverside RSU officials, the proposed renovations and improvements are as follows:
• Orono High School — chemistry lab improvements, pavement and parking lot improvements, tile replacement and improvement, entrance construction and upgrades, breezeway renovations, utility storage shed replacement and other unspecified improvements.
• Orono Middle School — modification of the entrance to comply with the Americans With Disabilities Act, tile replacement and improvement, locker replacement, gymnasium floor resurfacing and other improvements.
• Asa C. Adams Elementary School — parking lot renovations and improvements.
• Glenburn School — installation of an emergency generator.
According to the notice, the school board may modify the scope of the project, provided the change does not increase the total loan amount.
