The Cheverus girls cross country team, led by Emily Durgin’s second-place overall finish, placed fourth among scoring teams in the New England championship meet in Thetford, Vt., Saturday.
The Stags scored 196 points as Durgin toured the 5K course in 19 minutes, 23.2 seconds, while Mount Ararat of Tospham was 12th, Cape Elizabeth 19th, Class B state champion John Bapst 24th and Mount Desert Island 28th.
Old Town senior Dacie Manion earned All-New England status with her 10th-place finish, while Class C individual state champ Carsyn Koch of Washburn placed 45th in 21:07.9.
On the boys side, Falmouth was the top Maine school, finishing in 20th place, with Scarborough in 21st and Mount Ararat 23rd.
Cape Elizabeth followed in 26th place, with Class B state champion Caribou 27th and North Yarmouth Academy 28th.
Maine’s top individual was Silas Eastman of Fryeburg, who was 20th at 17:19.3, with the top Eastern Maine runner being Dan Curts of Ellsworth, who finished 41st at 17:40.4.
