BANGOR — The Senior League World Series will be held at Mansfield Stadium for the 10th consecutive year next August.
Stephen D. Keener, president and chief executive officer of Little League baseball and softball, announced the sites for the eight 2011 Little League world championship tournaments on Friday at the end of two days of meetings held by the Little League International board of directors in Williamsport, Pa.
All eight sites will remain the same for the 10th consecutive year, including Bangor, which first began hosting the Little League baseball championships for 15- and 16-year-old players in 2002.
The 2011 tournament is scheduled to run Aug. 14-20, with five days of pool play leading to the semifinals on Aug. 19 and the nationally televised championship game on Aug. 20.
Bangor is coming off the most successful tournament in its nine years as host, with attendance increases linked in great part to the success of the host Maine District 3 entry from Bangor, which advanced to the SLWS championship game before falling to Aruba 8-1.
