AUGUSTA, Maine — Maine election officials say one Senate recount and three in the House were requested by Tuesday’s deadline. Those are in addition to the recount of the statewide referendum on casino gambling.
A recount of votes in Senate District 7 is scheduled for Friday. In that race, incumbent Democratic Sen. Lawrence Bliss beat Republican Joseph Palmieri by 64 votes.
Three House recounts also had been requested by the 5 p.m. deadline.
In District 37, Democrat Ralph Chapman of Brooksville finished ahead of Republican Madeleine Gay Leach of Castine by 29 votes on Nov. 2. In District 107, Democrat Anne Graham of North Yarmouth defeated Republican Gary Foster of Gray by 33 votes. And in District 131, Democrat Robert Hunt of Buxton beat Republican James Libby of Buxton by 36 votes.
In Waldo County, Republican Donald Berry is asking for a recount in the County Commissioner race against Democrat Betty Johnson where the margin of victory was eight votes out of nearly 6,000, according to WGME.
