BANGOR – William J. “Bill” Fitzpatrick, 75, died Nov. 8, 2010, at a local hospital, having very recently been diagnosed with cancer. He was born Dec. 27, 1934, in Millinocket, son of Philip and Gladys Fitzpatrick. Although Bill was a loyal Stearns fan – having attended Millinocket schools through his junior year – he moved to Bangor and graduated from Bangor High School in 1953. He was a veteran of the Korean and Vietnam wars, proudly serving in the U.S. Air Force from 1953 to 1973. After retiring from the Air Force, he began working at N.H. Bragg & Sons in 1973, retiring after 17 years of service in 1990. Bill is survived by his wife, Glenice (Arnold) Fitzpatrick; five children, William “Mark” Fitzpatrick, Rodney Fitzpatrick, Vicki and Fred Gagne, Janet Salem, and Laura and James Miramontes; and eight grandchildren, Kimberly Fitzpatrick, Daniel Fitzpatrick, Sean Howland, Erika Salem, Tyler Salem, Brandon Butler, Ryan Fitzpatrick and James Miramontes. He also leaves behind three brothers and a sister, Philip Fitzpatrick, Martin Fitzpatrick, Terrence Fitzpatrick and Ann Ashmore; many nieces and nephews. Bill was predeceased by three brothers, Robert Fitzpatrick, Paul Fitzpatrick and James Fitzpatrick; and one sister, Phyllis Garvin. A memorial service will be held 2 p.m. Friday, Nov. 12, at Brookings-Smith, 133 Center St., Bangor, with the Rev. Carl Schreiber, pastor of East Orrington Congregational Church, officiating. The family invites relatives and friends to share conversation and refreshments immediately after the service Friday at the Family Reception Center of Brookings-Smith, 163 Center St., Bangor.
