Drivers hospitalized after 2-car accident

A two-car accident in Bangor on Sunday sent both drivers to a hospital with injuries that were not considered life-threatening.

The accident took place at about 1:30 p.m. at the intersection of Broadway and Husson Avenue.

According to Bangor police Sgt. Bob Bishop, Judy Strout, 64, of Corinth was driving north on Broadway and failed to stop for a red light. Her 2003 Subaru wagon hit the driver’s side door of 2001 Chevrolet two-door sedan driven by 55-year-old Cathy Small of Bangor.

Both women were wearing seat belts, and air bags in both vehicles deployed on impact, Bishop said. Both drivers complained of pain and were taken by ambulance to a hospital. Their conditions were not available Sunday evening. Damage to the vehicles was estimated at $5,000 each.
