Ex of dead NH woman says stalking charge moot

The Associated Press

MANCHESTER, N.H. — The ex-boyfriend of a New Hampshire woman who was stabbed to death wants a court to dismiss stalking charges against him because his alleged victim “doesn’t even exist anymore.”

Thirty-one-year-old Anthony Santos of Manchester was in court Thursday where he pleaded innocent to charges he was within a few feet of 27-year-old Stephanie Campbell on Tuesday, hours before Campbell was stabbed to death.

A murder warrant has been issued for 22-year-old Molly Beth Martel in Campbell’s death.

The New Hampshire Union Leader says that in court Thursday, Santos asked why the stalking charges, and earlier assault charges, weren’t dismissed since Campbell is dead.

He had been free on bail on the assault charges. Police prosecutors are now asking that his bail be revoked.
