ELLSWORTH — A local man faces multiple charges after he was arrested Wednesday in connection with the theft of tools and auto parts from his father’s business.
Police arrested Jeffrey S. Card, 35, of Ellsworth after executing a search warrant at his home during which officers reportedly located the stolen items.
According to Lt. Harold Page of the Ellsworth Police Department, Card allegedly broke into Jim’s Auto shop late Tuesday night or early Wednesday morning and stole more than $1,000 worth of tools and auto parts. The shop, which was damaged by fire late last week, is owned by Card’s father, Jim Card.
Page said there was no connection between the fire and the theft of the tools.
The suspect was identified on a security video, Page said.
“It was pretty straightforward,” he said. “We saw him on the video, executed a search warrant, found the items and arrested him.”
Page said officers had recovered most of the stolen property.
Jeffrey Card was arrested and charged with burglary, criminal trespass, possession of drug paraphernalia and possession of marijuana. He was taken to the Hancock County Jail and later was released on bail.
