BANGOR — Caroline Bochtler had a hat trick in leading No. 2 Husson University past No. 3 University of Maine at Farmington 5-0 in the North Atlantic Conference field hockey semifinals Wednesday.
Husson advanced to the NAC title game against Saint Joseph’s College Saturday at 1 p.m. in Standish.
Lorri Hiltz had a goal and an assist for the 9-5 Eagles. Sabrina Vaillancourt scored 12:49 into the first to give Husson a 1-0 lead. Helen Berry recorded two assists. Kristen Capen stopped 10 of 19 shots.
Sarah Brown turned away nine of 19 shots for the 12-6 Beavers.
St. Joseph’s 2, Castleton 1 (OT)
At Standish, Kayla Nowell scored off a Courtney Rague assist 8:03 into overtime to power top-seeded Saint Joseph’s College past No. 4 Castleton State College in the NAC semifinals.
Rague scored with an assist from Alyssa Dunn 6:02 into the first half to put the 13-5 Monks up 1-0. Meaghan Johnson saved seven of eight shots.
Courtney Nolan scored 14:57 into the game to tie it for 12-7 Castleton. Kealy Chipman had the assist. Siobhan Whittemore turned away five of seven shots.
UM-Machias 78, UNB-St. John 54
At Machias, the University of Maine-Machias forced 36 turnovers and cruised to a win over the University of New Brunswick-Saint John Tuesday night.
Zach Armstrong scored 17 points to lead the Clippers. Hampton Mack had 14 points and Will Lewis added 13 points and five steals. Zach Pope chipped in 11 points and Rick Lupo added nine points and eight rebounds.
Andrew Naismith paced UNB-Saint John with 12 points and eight rebounds. James Cosman scored 10 points.
