BELFAST, Maine — With 19 out of 26 Waldo County towns reporting results for state Senate District 23 by 12:15 a.m. Wednesday, state Rep. Mike Thibodeau, R-Winterport, seemed to be heading for a victory over Assistant House Majority Leader Rep. John Piotti, D-Unity.

The men are vying for the seat that will be vacated by Republican Carol Weston.

Piotti had received 5,839 votes to Thibodeau’s 6,022. Winterport had not yet reported its results along with a handful of western Waldo county towns.
