PORTLAND — The U.S. Freestyle Moguls Ski Team has named 18 athletes to the 2011 team, including two Maine skiers.

Jeremy Cota, 22, of Carrabassett Valley, and David DiGravio, 24, of Farmington are both graduates of Carrabassett Valley Academy, located at the base of Sugarloaf Mountain.

Cota was born in Greenville and skied on the slopes of Squaw Mountain until his family moved to Carrabassett Valley. His success during the 2010 season included two podium finishes in the U.S. Championships with silver in the singles competition and gold in the duals competition.

Cota’s rookie season last year exceeded his expectations with three top-10 World Cup finishes, securing him a spot on this year’s team.

DiGravio has skied at Sugarloaf his entire life and when his family moved from outside Boston to Farmington, he became immersed in the sport. Last winter DiGravio also competed in the World Cup, NorAm, and the U.S. Championships, winning a bronze medal in the duals competition. Competing in a grueling 16-event schedule, DiGravio compiled an impressive record with three top-5 finishes in NorAms and four top-15 finishes on the World Cup circuit. Those results helped secure him a place on the U.S. Team.

Both skiers shared the podium during the 2010 U.S. Championships with Cota winning the gold and DiGravio bringing home the bronze.
