One killed when car, MDOT truck collide

CHELSEA, Maine – A head on collision between a passenger vehicle and a Maine Department of Transportation dump truck has left one person dead and another injured.

The accident occurred Friday morning on Route 226 in Chelsea, about 15 minutes south of Augusta.

According to police, the driver of the car, a woman, crossed the center line and hit the dump truck, WMTW reported.

The driver’s passenger was taken by helicopter to the hospital, police said. The names of those involved have yet to be released by police.
