It is shaping up to be an uneventful election in Presque Isle next week, as all of the candidates running for city and school board positions are unopposed.

City Clerk Nancy Nichols said Friday that when voters go to the polls, they will choose two new City Council members and five school board members to represent the various sections of the city on the SAD 1 board.

There are two open seats on the council. Bruce W. Sargent is running unopposed for one slot, and Emily G. Smith has no opponents in her race for the other available seat.

Carol Bell is running unopposed for one spot representing section 6 on the SAD 1 board.

In the race for the section 8 seat, Barbara Ladner also faces no opposition.

There is also a seat open to represent section 11 on the board. Curtis Culberson is facing no competition in his run to secure the seat.

Juliet Freeman is the only candidate looking to represent section 16 on the board.

Only one person, Paul Saija, seeks to secure the section 17 seat.
