Taser used on Maine man agitated over breakup

The Associated Press

BALDWIN, Maine — Sheriff’s deputies in Cumberland County used a Taser to subdue a man angered over his breakup with his girlfriend.

Deputies say 25-year-old Jesse Ewald was intoxicated and agitated Wednesday night in Baldwin, and that his pit bull attacked two people who tried to calm him.

Officials say deputies had to use a Taser because Ewald resisted arrest. They say Ewald was charged with disorderly conduct and released on $250 bail.

Susan Merrill, Ewald’s mother, and her husband, David, were treated for dog bites on their lower legs. The dog is under quarantine.
