BANGOR, Maine — A Prentiss man was indicted Wednesday by the Penobscot County grand jury on six counts of receiving stolen property and violation of a condition of release.

Timothy Hayes, 46, allegedly bought items stolen in the burglaries of two camps located in Drew and Springfield, according to Penobscot County District Attorney R. Christopher Almy. One of the items was a four-wheeler the prosecutor said Wednesday.

The dates of the burglaries were not available Wednesday night.

Almy said that Hayes has a long criminal record as a “fence” and allegedly got much younger individuals to break into residences to obtain items for him.

“This guy makes breaking into houses profitable,” he said.

Hayes is expected to be arraigned next month at the Penobscot Judicial Center in Bangor.

In an unrelated case, Christopher Rossi, 25, a transient from Norwell, Mass., was indicted for aggravated assault and assault for an incident in August at the Dorothea Dix Psychiatric Center on State Street.

He allegedly shoved a 55-year-old female nurse who then fell and broke her wrist, Almy said Wednesday.

Rossi remained Wednesday at the Penobscot County Jail unable to make bail, according to jail personnel.

If convicted, he faces up to five years in prison and a fine of up to $5,000.
