Early voting — or in-person absentee voting, to be more precise — began Monday in Bangor and continues through Saturday at the civic center. Voters receive absentee ballots at the polls and fill them out as they would on Election Day. After they are filled out, the ballots are sealed and checked against the computer records to make sure the number of votes cast is the same as the number of people who came to vote early. In-person absentee votes will be unsealed and processed next week. Wayne Mallar, an election warden in Bangor, said about 450 people voted Monday, and he expected about 600 early voters on Tuesday. Anyone with questions can call the city clerk’s office at 992-4220 or visit the city’s website, www.BangorMaine.gov.
