Hotel to replace Portland meat-processing plant

The Associated Press

PORTLAND, Maine — Construction is well under way on a six-story building at the location of a former processed meat plant.

Developers say the building on the site of the former Jordan’s Meats in downtown Portland should be finished by the middle of next year.

The Portland Press Herald says the building will house a 122-room Hampton Inn, 12 upscale condominiums and a Sebago Brewing restaurant. The restaurant is expected to open in late spring or early summer. The hotel and condominiums should be ready shortly after that.

Jordan’s Meats operated at the location until 2005.
