VAN BUREN – Nelson N. Chasse, 80, died unexpectedly Oct. 21, 2010, at his residence. He was born June 15, 1930, in Madawaska, the son of Eddie and Artheline (Lauzier) Chasse. Prior to returning to the Van Buren area a few years ago, he and his wife were residents of Old Saybrook, Conn. He had been employed as a general contractor in Connecticut before retirement. He was a member of Knights of Columbus Council, Old Saybrook, Conn. He is survived two daughters, Elaine Cirillo and her husband, Dennis, of East Haddam, Conn., and Lisa Chasse of Old Saybrook, Conn.; two sons, Michael Chasse of Middletown, Conn., and Ivan Chassie and his wife, Doreen, of Goshen, Conn.; three brothers, Gerard Chasse of Van Buren, Donald Chasse of St. Rose, Quebec, and Harold Chasse of Yountville, Calif.; five sisters, Viola Beverage of St. Agatha, Julie Roy of East Hampton, Conn., Wilma Madore of Old Lyme, Conn., Alouida Dubay of Caribou and Sister Dorina Chasse, S.C.I.M., of Saco; and five grandchildren, Melanie Cirillo, Justin Hunter, Nickola Chasse, Eric Chassie and Kristyn Jensen. He was predeceased by his wife, Glorianne (Roy) Chasse, in 2009. A funeral Mass will be celebrated 11 a.m. Thursday, Nov. 4, at St. Bruno-St. Remi Catholic Church.
