HAMPDEN – Helen B. Perkins, 87, passed away peacefully Oct. 23, 2010, surrounded by her family at a Bangor health care facility. A lifelong resident of Hampden, she was born there Oct. 2, 1923, the daughter of Henry and Lucy (Perkins) Graves. Helen loved to knit, play cards, go for drives and to eat with her family, she especially enjoyed ham dinners. She lived a full life, was loved by her family and will be remembered with love and joy. Helen will be greatly missed by her children, Eleanor Brooks of Bangor, Arlene Hathaway of Winterport and Philip and Carol Perkins of Hampden; and by many grandchildren and great-grandchildren, who will miss her dearly. She was predeceased by her husband, Leon W. Perkins; two sons, Maurice and Clifford Perkins; and by a grandson, William Brooks. Helen’s family thanks the staff of Stillwater Health Care for the love and care given to their mother in her final days. Family and friends may visit 4-7 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 28, at Hampden-Gilpatrick Funeral Home, 45 Western Ave., Hampden, where a funeral service will be held 10 a.m. Friday, Oct. 29, with Pastor Cleo L. Winningham officiating. Interment will be at Locust Grove Cemetery, Hampden. After the interment everyone is invited to continue to celebrate Helen’s life at a gathering at 242 Stream Road, Winterport.
