GLENBURN – David Nevers Sr., 67, passed Oct. 20, 2010. He was born Sept. 5, 1943, in Portland. He attended Portland schools until high school and graduated from Bridgton High School in 1962. He joined the U.S. Army in 1963 and was stationed in Korea for two years. In 1968, he married Barbara Buchanon of Scarborough, and moved to Ellsworth to work for Sunshine Biscuits. Eventually they moved to Carmel, where they lived for 33 years. They had two sons, David Jr. and Scott. Due to his illness, they moved to Glenburn in 2005 to live with their son, David and his partner, Tom Drake. Dave had many small businesses and was self-employed. He loved going to camp for hunting, fishing and playing cards. He leaves behind his wife of 42 years, Barbara; his mother-in-law, Christine Huntley; a son, David Jr. and his partner, Tom Drake, and Tom’s children, Brandon, Samantha and Charlene; a son, Scott and his wife, April, who was like a daughter to him, and their children, Allen, Amber and Lindsay, whom he loved dearly. He is also survived by a brother, Freeman and Lee Nevers of Mountville, Pa.; and a brother, Lawrence and Ellie Nevers of Veazie; many, many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his father and mother, John and Mabel (Grover) Nevers; and sister, Dawn Babbitt. A celebration of his life will be held 1-5 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 24, at his home, 237 Lakeview Road, Glenburn.
