McDonald’s volunteer day this Saturday

BANGOR, Maine — Maine McDonald’s and Ronald McDonald House Charities of Maine are putting out a call for volunteers for the 20th annual Make a Difference Day on Saturday, Oct. 23.

Locations, volunteer activities and the sign-up form are posted on the RMHC Maine website,

On Saturday participating volunteers will receive a complimentary breakfast and coffee from McDonald’s, snacks from Newman’s Own Organics and T-shirts.

“We are encouraging everyone to get out on Oct. 23 and help in their communities where there is a need,” said Gary Eckmann, owner and operator of six McDonald’s restaurants in the Bangor area.

Projects in the area include:

• The Ronald McDonald House of Bangor is seeking up to six volunteers to help with preparing meals and baking, light cleaning and window washing from 9 a.m. to noon.

• Camp Capella in Holden is seeking two to four volunteers to assist with painting picnic tables.

• Broadreach Family & Community Services in Rockland is looking for up to 12 volunteers willing to help with improvements to the outside of the early childhood center. Teams of two to four volunteers are needed to spread wood chips on the playground, paint, clear brush, weed and plant flower bulbs.

ä Riding to the Top in Windham could use assistance with jobs around the site from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.
