CARIBOU – Beatrice A. (Haines) Griffeth, 84, went home to be with the Lord Monday, Oct. 18, 2010. She was born May 25, 1926, in Washburn, daughter of Glen and Lillian (Roberts) Haines. After completing high school, she went to Husson College for her secretarial certificate. She worked for Maine Mutual before marrying Lloyd Griffeth and starting a family. She spent the next 37 years raising her seven children, living the majority of her married life on the farm she so dearly loved in Woodland. She worked alongside her husband, cutting seed, working on the harvester, feeding their workers and preserving the vegetables from the garden Lloyd so carefully tended. She was a loyal member of Perham Baptist Church for more than 50 years. She loved her church and the people there. Beatrice took great joy in her children and many grandchildren and great-grandchildren, thoroughly enjoying every opportunity for them to be together. She was a quiet woman, but was always taking in the world around her. Beatrice is survived by two sons, Lewis Griffeth of New York City and Robert Griffeth and his wife, Lona, of Caribou; five daughters, Joan Heath and her husband, Tommy, of Portsmouth, Va., Donna Miron and her husband, Terry, of Spencer, Ind., Marilyn Bouchard and her husband, Mike, of Presque Isle, Mary Hebert and her husband, Will, of Portsmouth, Va., and Ellen Nickerson and her husband, Harris, of Castle Hill; 17 grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren; a sister, Bertha Philbrook of Woodland; and her dear friend and cousin, Glenna Ewing of Washburn. Beatrice was predeceased by her parents; and her husband of 58 years, Lloyd R. Griffeth. The family thanks those at Caribou Rehabilitation and Nursing Home who gave Beatrice such wonderful care. Friends and family may call 7-9 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 20, at Lancaster-Morgan Funeral Home, 11 Clover St., Caribou. A funeral service will be held 2 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 21, at Perham Baptist Church.
