Video surveillance leads to suspects in Orrington theft

ORRINGTON, Maine — A video released Thursday by the Penobscot County Sheriff’s Department showing two men as well as a pickup truck backing up to a landscaping business in town has led to the identification of the suspects, officials say.

“When you ask for help, you get it,” Deputy Chief Troy Morton said Friday morning.

The recording contained two still photos of the suspects and a video of their vehicle backing up to Seasonal Services Inc. on Brewer Lake Road.

“The people who were observed in the video we put out have been identified,” Morton said. “It happened pretty quickly. I can’t stop the phone from ringing.”

There have been a number of recent metal thefts at Seasonal Services, so surveillance cameras were installed.

While the two men in the videos have been identified, they have not been arrested, Morton said.

“We’ve been in contact to set up interviews,” he said.

The interviews should take place Friday or shortly thereafter, Morton said, adding, “It’s kind of in their best interest to show up.”
