BANGOR, Maine — Republican State Senate candidate Nichi Farnham of Bangor is using a big name to build support for her candidacy against well-known incumbent Joe Perry.

U.S. Sen. Susan Collins, a part-time Bangor resident, is scheduled to make an appearance this evening with Farnham and Katrin Teel, who is running for the House District 17 in Bangor against Democrat Sara Stevens.

According to Liz Johnson, Collins’ deputy press secretary, Collins is scheduled to attend a Bangor High School girls soccer game shortly after 5:30 p.m. The senator is expected to stay about an hour.

Farnham, a Bangor School Committee member and former city councilors, is challenging Perry, a four-term house member and three-term senator.
