CARIBOU, Maine – Caribou Rotarians have set the wheels in motion for the organization’s popular annual fundraising event.

About 20 years ago the Rotary Club began holding an annual dinner and auction, with the money raised going toward community projects; after a number of years the event was transformed into an annual snowmobile draw which now has become the Annual Cash Draw.

The 2010 Cash Draw event will begin with hors d’oeuvres and a social time 6:30-8 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 11, at the Caribou Inn and Convention Center. The 50 cash prizes will be drawn beginning at 8 p.m. followed by a dance with music provided by The Nadeau Family.

The ticket price includes admission for one individual to the drawing and dance. No more than 1,000 tickets will be sold, creating a 1-in-20 chance of winning.

Ticket prices are $60 each or $50 each for two or more. Ticket holders do not have to be present on Dec. 11 to win; attendance is only necessary to claim the $500 bonus door prize.

The 50 cash drawings are for one $6,000 top prize; $5,000 second prize; $4,000 third; $1,000 fourth; $500 fifth; five $250 drawings and 40 $100 prizes; and the $500 bonus door prize.

Specifically this year’s proceeds from the fundraiser will go to special projects for the Caribou Little League, Cary Medical Center, the Caribou Police Department and the Caribou High School Booster’s building project, according to Doug Hunter, Caribou Rotary president-elect and chairman of the event.

Anyone wishing to purchase a ticket for the Caribou Rotary 16th Annual Draw may contact any Rotarian or contact Hunter at 492-2171.
