Woman who runs wolf sanctuary has no permits, wardens say

The Associated Press

LIMINGTON, Maine (AP) — Maine game wardens are going to be asking a Limington woman who has kept wolves on her property for 22 years about her lack of state and federal permits.

The Maine Warden Service learned about the Run With Wolves Sanctuary through a news article.

Sanctuary owner Brenda Foster says it would have been too expensive for her to get the permits she would need to care for wolves. She is now keeping five pure wolves.

She has run the sanctuary since 1988. She says she helps wolves that were found living in captivity and neglected or abused.

The Portland Press Herald says a district game warden and regional biologist knew about Foster’s facility but thought she had permits.
