RIPLEY, Maine — The State Fire Marshal’s Office was called in Tuesday to investigate an early morning fire that destroyed an outbuilding at a vacant house on Chandler Hill Road in Ripley.

Matt Connor, assistant Dexter fire chief, said the approximately 30-by-20-foot outbuilding was engulfed in flames when firefighters arrived shortly after the 12:50 a.m. call. He said firefighters worked quickly to stop the fire before it consumed the house.

An old farm truck and an all-terrain vehicle also were destroyed in the fire, according to Connor.

Connor said firefighters did not know who owned the vacant property.

Sangerville and Corinna firefighters assisted Dexter at the scene.
