UMaine women’s basketball documentary premieres Oct. 23

ORONO — A 75-minute documentary titled “Her Game” which chronicles the the 1997-98 University of Maine women’s basketball team and its season will premier in Bangor and Waterville on Oct. 23.

The film, which focuses on behind-the-scenes and game action from Cindy Blodgett’s senior season, follows the Black Bears throughout the season and incorporates at the beginning and end of the movie pieces on the current UMaine team Blodgett now coaches. It will be shown at the Penobscot Theatre in Bangor at 10 a.m. and at the Railroad Square Cinema in Waterville at 3:30 p.m.

The 1997-98 team, coached by current Duke University coach Joanne Palombo-McCallie, advanced to the NCAA Tournament after earning a No. 2 seed in the America East Tournament and playing in the championship game.
