Gubernatorial debate to be streamed live tonight

By Kevin Miller, BDN Staff

BANGOR, Maine — The five candidates for governor will appear together in Bangor tonight for a debate that will be streamed live on bangordailynews.com.

The debate will take place from 8 to 9 p.m., in Peakes Auditorium at Bangor High School.

The event will feature all five gubernatorial candidates: Republican Paul LePage, Democrat Libby Mitchell, and independents Eliot Cutler, Shawn Moody and Kevin Scott. Bangor Daily News assistant editorial page editor Tom Groening and WVII anchor-producer Tony Consiglio will pose questions to the candidates. WVII ABC 7-WFVX Fox 22 is a cohost of the debate.

Audience members also will have an opportunity to submit written questions directed to specific candidates.

The debate comes as LePage has consistently led the pack in polls. However, political observers and campaign staffers caution that the race remains unpredictable this far out.
