Residence staff at York Hall called University of Maine police late Sunday to report underage drinking. That led to four people, including one juvenile, being charged, university spokesman Joe Carr said Monday.

Eva Vandergrift, 18, who reportedly hosted the party in her dorm room, was charged at around 11 p.m. with furnishing a place for minors to consume alcohol, according to Carr.

The three other teens were charged with possession of alcohol by a minor by consumption. They are UMaine student Jacob Backman, 18, and two nonstudents, Katelyn Brenton, 18, and a 17-year-old juvenile, addresses unknown, Carr said. The juvenile’s parents were called and one of them picked her up, he said. (Nok-Noi Ricker, BDN)
