OAKFIELD – Gary A Crandall, 63, died Oct. 6, 2010, in Bangor. He was born Oct. 8, 1946, in Island Falls, the son of Kenneth Sr. and Pansy (Sherman) Crandall. He was a U.S. Army veteran, serving during Vietnam and received three Purple Hearts. He was a member of Frank B. Holden Post No. 52, Oakfield, Houlton Lodge of Elks and a lifetime member of North American Hunting Club. He retired in 2001 from Northland Telephone Co. He is survived by his wife of 41 years, Robin (Stairs) Crandall; one son, Matthew Crandall and his fiancee, Donna; one daughter, Hilary and her husband, Torry Lane, all of Oakfield; three grandchildren, Janie, Colton and Mariah; two sisters-in-law, Jennie, wife of Dale, and Carolyn, wife of Kenneth Jr.; several nieces and nephews, Bruce and Dede Edkins, Beth Edkins, Lisa and Brian Boutilier, Allison and Rick Burpee, Kenneth and Melissa Crandall, Bethany O’Donoghue, and Raymond and Keri-Ann Crandall; several great-nieces and great-nephews; and Robin’s uncle and Gary’s good friend, Gordon Stairs. A graveside funeral service will be held 10 a.m. Monday at Oakfield Cemetery with David Hutchinson officiating. A time of fellowship will be after at the Pond House.
