Bowdoin’s Pearson wins 200th game

BRUNSWICK — Bowdoin College field hockey head coach Nicky Pearson recorded her 200th career win Wednesday by virtue of the Polar Bears' 9-0 victory over University of Maine-Farmington.

Pearson holds a 200-45 record in 15 seasons at Bowdoin.

Elizabeth Clegg and Kassey Matoin scored two goals apiece for the 7-0 Polar Bears. 

Sarah Brown turned away eight of 17 shots for the 8-2 Beavers.

Husson 5, Thomas 1

At Bangor, Jillian Morin scored two goals and notched an assist to lead Husson by Thomas in the Play 4 The Cure contest.

Courtney Allen, Kara Poirier and Kajsa Blindow added goals for Husson while Ally Kennedy scored for Thomas.

Women's soccer

Colby 4, UM-Farmington 0

At Waterville, Marissa Simmons scored twice in the first half to power Colby College to a 4-0 women's soccer victory over the University of Maine-Farmington.

Katie Pistel and Emily Anderson added second-half goals for the 3-2-3 Mules. Loni Pisani saved four of five shots.

Crystal Johnson made four saves off 19 shots for 4-5-1 UM-Farmington.

Men's soccer

Unity 5, EMCC 4

At Bangor, Nate Dant scored three goals, including the winner with 20 minutes remaining in regulation, to lead Unity College to victory over Eastern Maine Community College.

Tyler Ferrick and Jake McGinley also scored for 1-8-1 Unity. Scott Rollins saved 10 of 16 shots.

Justin Artus scored two goals for the 1-5-1 Golden Eagles. Eric Peterson and Young Rok Lee also scored. Peterson saved 15 of 20 shots.

Amherst 7, Husson 0

At Amherst, Mass., Spencer Noon and Casey McNamara each scored two goals to lead Amherst by Husson of Bangor.

Mason Smith made 10 saves on 33 shots for 2-8 Husson. Amherst is 5-0-3.
